  • Community Acquired Pneumonia
  • Pharyngitis
  • Tonsillitis
  • Uncomplicated Skin and Skin-Structure Infections

Pharmacology

Editoren 400 is a broad-spectrum third-generation antibiotic known as Cefditoren Pivoxil. Editoren 400 works by killing bacteria through blocking their cell wall creation. Editoren 400 is a prodrug that turns into active Cefditoren once absorbed in the body. Editoren 400 fights both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and is stable against various enzymes that could normally destroy antibiotics.

Dosage & Administration

Take Editoren 400 after meals:

  • Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 400 mg twice a day for 14 days.
  • Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis: 400 mg twice a day for 10 days.
  • Pharyngotonsillitis and Acute Sinusitis: 200 mg twice a day for 10 days.
  • Uncomplicated Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: 200 mg twice a day for 10 days.

Interaction

Taking antacids or famotidine (IV) can reduce how well Editoren 400 works. If taken with probenecid, its levels in the blood can increase. Editoren 400 doesn’t affect most oral contraceptives, though.

Contraindications

Editoren 400 should not be taken by people who are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics or any ingredient in the medicine. Editoren 400 also contains sodium caseinate (a milk protein), so those allergic to milk protein should avoid Editoren 400.
