Indications
Enaril 10 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) of all types, including hypertension caused by kidney problems.
Enaril 10 is also used to treat heart failure, especially when combined with other treatments like diuretics (water pills) or digitalis.
For severe heart failure, Enaril 10 should only be started in the hospital under close medical care. Enaril 10 helps improve symptoms and reduce hospital visits and death.
For mild to moderate heart failure, Enaril 10 should also be started with close supervision. Enaril 10 helps improve symptoms and reduce the risk of death and hospital visits.
Pharmacology
Enaril 10 is a medicine that works by blocking a specific enzyme called Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE), which helps control blood pressure. By blocking ACE, Enaril 10 lowers the production of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. This leads to better control of blood pressure and helps the heart work better in heart failure.
Dosage & Administration
Adult & Elderly: The maximum daily dose is 40 mg. Enaril 10 works the same whether you take Enaril 10 with or without food. For high blood pressure, start with 5 mg once a day, and the dose may be increased based on your response. The usual dose for high blood pressure is 10-20 mg daily. For severe high blood pressure, the dose can go up to 40 mg a day. If you’re also taking a diuretic (water pill), you may start with a lower dose (2.5 mg).
For Heart Failure: Start with 2.5 mg a day and gradually increase the dose, as long as your body tolerates Enaril 10. The typical maintenance dose is 10-20 mg daily. Care should be taken if you’re taking high doses of diuretics to avoid low blood pressure.
Elderly Patients: Start with 2.5 mg, as older adults may respond more strongly to the medicine.
Impaired Kidney Function: Start with a lower dose (2.5 mg) if you have kidney problems and adjust the dose carefully based on your blood pressure or heart failure symptoms.
Interaction
When taken with other blood pressure medicines like beta-blockers or diuretics, Enaril 10 can have a stronger effect. Enaril 10 is important to monitor potassium levels, especially if you’re taking potassium supplements or have kidney problems. Enaril 10 can lower the effectiveness of some medications, but these effects are generally not a major concern.
Contraindications
Enaril 10 should not be taken by people who are allergic to Enaril 10 or any of its ingredients. Enaril 10 should also be avoided if you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to ACE inhibitors, such as swelling of the face or throat.
Side Effects
