Indications
Geston is used to prevent complications during pregnancy, such as slow baby growth in the womb, risk of miscarriage, repeated pregnancy loss, and early labor.
Pharmacology
Geston helps support pregnancy by improving the placenta’s function. Studies show Geston increases progesterone production, which is important for maintaining pregnancy. Geston also boosts certain enzymes and hormones in the placenta, leading to a healthier pregnancy. Research indicates that high doses can reduce contractions without affecting normal delivery. Geston does not have estrogen or androgen effects and does not negatively impact liver function or water balance in the body.
Dosage & Administration
For slow baby growth: 1 tablet three times daily for at least two months. Reduce dose if symptoms improve.
For risk of miscarriage: 1 tablet three times daily until symptoms stop.
For repeated pregnancy loss: 1-2 tablets daily starting from early pregnancy, continuing for at least one month after the critical period.
For early labor: Dose varies per patient. High doses (up to 40 mg daily) have been used.
If a dose is missed, take Geston as soon as remembered. Do not double the dose.

Contraindications
Geston should not be used in patients with breast cancer or past breast issues like lumps or abnormal scans, severe liver problems, unexplained vaginal bleeding, pregnancy-related high blood pressure, or certain nervous system disorders like seizures or migraines.
Side Effects
Some people may experience mild stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, or discomfort in the upper stomach, especially with long-term use.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Geston is safe to use during pregnancy but should be stopped after delivery, as Geston may have minor effects on a nursing baby.
Precautions & Warnings
People with heart disease, irregular heartbeat, past seizures, kidney problems, migraines, asthma, or other breathing issues should use Geston with caution.
Overdose Effects
Taking too much may cause extreme drowsiness, fast heartbeat, fainting, muscle stiffness, seizures, or unconsciousness.
