Indications
Marlox Plus is used to relieve symptoms like indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, sour stomach, and hiatal hernia. Marlox Plus is also prescribed for conditions like peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis. Marlox Plus may be given to children if necessary. Marlox Plus can also help relieve bloating, stomach distension, and gas.
Pharmacology
Marlox Plus is a combination of two ingredients: magaldrate and simethicone. Magaldrate is a magnesium-aluminum compound that quickly neutralizes stomach acid without raising the pH above 5-6. Marlox Plus also reduces the activity of pepsin in gastric juices. Simethicone helps gas bubbles come together to relieve bloating and gas.
Dosage & Administration
Tablet: Take 1-4 chewable tablets, 20 to 60 minutes after meals and before bed, or as directed by your doctor.
Suspension: Take 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml), 20 to 60 minutes after meals and before bed, or as directed by your doctor.
Interaction
Marlox Plus should not be used with Tetracycline antibiotics. Marlox Plus may also reduce the effectiveness or slow the absorption of drugs like propranolol, isoniazid, prednisolone, and naproxen.
Contraindications
Marlox Plus is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to magnesium or aluminum. Marlox Plus should not be used by patients with kidney problems.
Side Effects
Side effects are rare, but may include diarrhea, constipation, or stomach upset if too much is taken.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Marlox Plus may be used during pregnancy if necessary, but excessive doses should be avoided. Marlox Plus can pass into breast milk, but no problems have been reported in babies who are breastfed.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution if you have kidney problems, low phosphate levels, or are generally weak.
Overdose Effects
Overdosing on this medicine is rare, but if Marlox Plus happens, get medical help right away.
