Indications
Maxpro HP is used to treat and remove H. pylori bacteria in people with active chronic stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and gastric ulcers.
Pharmacology
Esomeprazole works by reducing stomach acid. Maxpro HP does this by blocking a specific enzyme that produces acid in the stomach. This effect lasts for more than 24 hours because the enzyme is permanently inhibited, and new enzymes need to be made to start acid production again.
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping the formation of their cell walls, which results in the bacteria’s death.
Clarithromycin works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to make proteins, stopping their growth and spread.
Dosage & Administration
Take one tablet twice a day for 7 to 14 days, or follow your doctor’s instructions.
Interaction
Esomeprazole is broken down in the liver through specific enzymes, but Maxpro HP doesn’t interact significantly with other medications like warfarin, ibuprofen, or clarithromycin.
Clarithromycin can increase the level of theophylline in the blood, and Maxpro HP may interact with other drugs like carbamazepine, phenytoin, or lovastatin.
Contraindications
Maxpro HP is not recommended for patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Most people tolerate H. pylori eradication therapy well. Common side effects include diarrhea and nausea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Maxpro HP is not known if Maxpro HP is safe to use while breastfeeding.
