Pharmacology

Methipred 4 is a strong anti-inflammatory drug that suppresses the immune system. Methipred 4 works by attaching to specific receptors in cells, which then help control the body’s response to inflammation and immune functions. Methipred 4 affects the kidney, metabolism, muscles, heart, immune system, and nervous system.

Dosage & Administration

The typical dose is between 2-48 mg daily, depending on the disease.

  • For anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive treatment, doses can range from 4-48 mg per day.
  • For severe conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, 160 mg per day is used initially, followed by a lower dose.
  • If tapering off, the dosage should be reduced slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Interaction

Methipred 4 interacts with several drugs, including:

  • Medications like Erythromycin and Ketoconazole can slow down its breakdown.
  • Estrogen-containing drugs may increase its effects.
  • Methipred 4 may affect blood thinners, so their dosage may need to be adjusted.

Methipred 4 should not be used in patients with systemic fungal infections or those allergic to any of its components.
