Indications
Microgest 100 is used for the maintenance of pregnancy in cases of threatened or recurrent abortion. Microgest 100 also provides luteal support during fertility treatments like IUI, IVF-ET, and for luteal phase insufficiency. Microgest 100 is used with estrogen in post-menopausal hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia when endogenous estrogen is present. Microgest 100 is also used for secondary amenorrhea, dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), premenstrual tension, endometriosis, oocyte donation, and benign mastopathy.
Pharmacology
Microgest 100 contains micronized progesterone, which is the same as the progesterone naturally produced in the body. Micronization helps the body absorb Microgest 100 better. After taking Microgest 100, the progesterone levels in the blood, endometrial, and breast tissue rise significantly. Progesterone binds to serum proteins and is mainly broken down in the liver. The metabolites are then excreted in the bile and urine, with some being recirculated in the body.
