Indications

Nebicard 5 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chronic heart failure (CHF). Nebicard 5 helps manage stable, mild, and moderate chronic heart failure in elderly patients along with other standard treatments.

Pharmacology

Nebicard 5 is a type of medicine called a beta-blocker. Nebicard 5 works by blocking certain receptors in the heart, which helps to lower heart rate and blood pressure. Nebicard 5 also helps to relax blood vessels, making Nebicard 5 easier for the heart to pump blood. The medication does not have any other properties that could affect the heart’s function in a harmful way.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: The usual starting dose is 5 mg taken once a day, with or without food. If a stronger dose is needed, Nebicard 5 can be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day, as directed by your doctor.

Interaction

Nebicard 5 should be used carefully with other medicines that affect the heart, such as certain calcium channel blockers or antiarrhythmic drugs. Taking Nebicard 5 together with other beta-blockers or certain medications that deplete catecholamines can cause a drop in heart rate. Special caution is needed when taken with certain antidepressants and antiarrhythmic drugs.

Contraindications

Nebicard 5 should not be used in patients with severe slow heart rate, heart block, heart failure that is not controlled, severe liver disease, or in patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients.
