Indications

Rotacal Max is used to treat or prevent low blood calcium levels in people who don’t get enough calcium from their diet. Rotacal Max is helpful in conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, and juvenile osteoporosis. Rotacal Max is also used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), hypoparathyroidism, and after hip joint surgery. Rotacal Max helps treat various inflammatory diseases like arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, and more. Rotacal Max can also reduce mood swings, improve cognitive function, and protect heart health. Studies suggest Rotacal Max may lower the risk of colon cancer.

Pharmacology

Rotacal Max contains Calcium Orotate, a calcium supplement that is paired with orotic acid. Orotic acid helps transport calcium through cells, especially in bones. Rotacal Max also supports healthy cartilage and plays a role in DNA and RNA synthesis. Unlike other calcium supplements, Calcium Orotate is effective in reaching complex cell membranes, making Rotacal Max ideal for cartilage metabolism.

Dosage & Administration

Calcium Orotate 400 mg: Take 2-3 tablets daily with a meal or as directed by your physician.

Calcium Orotate 740 mg: Take 1-2 tablets daily with a meal or as directed by your physician.

Interaction

Calcium can reduce the absorption of certain medications, such as bisphosphonates, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, and certain others. Rotacal Max may interact with diuretics, increasing the risk of high calcium levels in the blood and urine. Antacids, mineral oil, and certain laxatives can also affect calcium absorption. Corticosteroids and anti-inflammatories can deplete calcium levels.

Contraindications

Rotacal Max is contraindicated for patients with kidney disease, kidney stones, high calcium in the blood or urine, or certain other conditions like sarcoidosis or dehydration.

Side Effects

Common side effects include bloating and swelling in the abdomen. Less common effects are loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting, unusual weight loss, increased thirst or urination, weakness, fatigue, and kidney stone formation.

Pregnancy & Lactation

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, calcium needs increase. Taking Calcium Orotate can help reduce the risk of pregnancy-related high blood pressure, benefiting both mother and baby.

Precautions & Warnings

Before taking Rotacal Max, caution is needed if you are allergic to Calcium Orotate or have conditions like kidney disease, heart disease, or difficulty absorbing nutrients from food. You should also be careful if you have a history of kidney stones or sarcoidosis.
