SB-Sita
Form: Tablet
Strength: 100mg
Generic Name: Sitagliptin
Company: Sunman-Birdem Pharma Ltd.
MRP:৳ 28.0 (Tablet)
Is Antibiotic: No
Indications
SB-Sita is used along with diet and exercise to help improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. SB-Sita can be taken alone or with other diabetes medications.
Pharmacology
SB-Sita is a DPP-4 inhibitor. SB-Sita works by slowing down the breakdown of certain hormones called incretins, which help control blood sugar. These hormones boost insulin production and reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver. By increasing the levels of these hormones, SB-Sita helps lower blood sugar in a way that depends on the sugar level in the blood.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: The recommended dose is 50 mg twice a day or 100 mg once a day. SB-Sita can be taken with or without food.
Interaction
SB-Sita does not significantly affect the way other drugs like metformin, glyburide, or simvastatin work. SB-Sita slightly increases the level of Digoxin, but no dose adjustment is needed.
Contraindications
SB-Sita should not be used by patients who have had a severe allergic reaction to SB-Sita, such as anaphylaxis or angioedema.
Side Effects
Common side effects include headache, upper respiratory infections, and sore throat. Low blood sugar may occur when used with certain other diabetes medications like sulfonylurea or insulin.
Pregnancy & Lactation
SB-Sita is classified as pregnancy category B, meaning animal studies didn’t show risks, but human studies are lacking. SB-Sita may pass into breast milk in rats, so caution is advised for breastfeeding women.
Precautions & Warnings
If pancreatitis is suspected, stop using SB-Sita and get medical help. Dosage may need adjustment for people with kidney issues. When used with medications that lower blood sugar, dosages of other diabetes medicines may need to be lowered to avoid low blood sugar.
Overdose Effects
In case of overdose, supportive care should be given. SB-Sita is mildly dialyzable, meaning SB-Sita can be removed from the body by hemodialysis. Overdose effects may include an increase in QTc intervals on the heart monitor, though SB-Sita is not considered clinically significant.
Therapeutic Class
SB-Sita is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor.
Storage Conditions
Store below 25°C in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date. Only use with a prescription from a registered physician.
