Splendora 5%
Form: Scalp Lotion
Strength: 5%
Generic Name: Minoxidil Topical
Company: Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
MRP:৳ 601.81 (60ml bot)
Is Antibiotic: No
Indications
Splendora 5% is used to treat hair loss in both men and women, particularly in conditions like androgenic alopecia. Splendora 5% also helps in stabilizing hair loss in those with alopecia areata.
Pharmacology
Splendora 5% promotes hair growth by increasing blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to the hair follicles. This is achieved by widening blood vessels and blocking hormones that can negatively affect hair follicles. After topical application, around 1.4% of the applied dose is absorbed through the scalp. The absorption increases with a higher dose or more frequent applications. After stopping the use, most of the absorbed drug is eliminated in about 4 days through urine.
Dosage & Administration
Adult & Elderly: Apply 1 ml (7 sprays) of the solution twice a day, 12 hours apart, on clean, dry hair and scalp. Start from the center of the affected area and spread outwards. Do not exceed 2 ml per day.
Let the solution stay on the scalp for at least 4 hours before washing. Do not massage Splendora 5% in and avoid using a hair dryer. Do not mix the solution with hair oil. If a dose is missed, continue with the next application as usual.
Splendora 5% may take at least 4 months of consistent use to notice hair growth. Use for no less than 45 days to stop hair fall. Choose the appropriate strength of the solution depending on the severity of hair loss.
Interaction
Splendora 5% should not be used with other topical treatments that alter the skin barrier, like tretinoin or dithranol, as they may increase absorption of Minoxidil. While there’s no confirmed evidence, Splendora 5%’s theoretically possible that Minoxidil could worsen low blood pressure when used with certain blood pressure medications.
Contraindications
Splendora 5% should not be used by patients with heart problems, children under 18, those using other treatments on the scalp, or people with a red, inflamed, or irritated scalp (including conditions like psoriasis or sunburn).
Side Effects
Common side effects include mild skin reactions such as dermatitis or unwanted hair growth, occurring in 0.1-5% of users.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Splendora 5% should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Splendora 5% can cause scalp irritation. If irritation continues or gets worse, stop using Splendora 5% immediately.
Overdose Effects
Using too much can lead to increased absorption, especially if applied to larger areas than the scalp. Overdose may cause symptoms like heart problems or fluid retention. Fluid retention can be treated with diuretics, and heart issues can be treated with beta-blockers.
Therapeutic Class
Splendora 5% belongs to the class of other scalp treatments.
Storage Conditions
Store Splendora 5% in a cool, dry place, away from light, and keep out of the reach of children.
