Indications
Square Zinc is used to treat zinc deficiency or conditions where zinc is lost from the body. Zinc deficiency can happen due to a poor diet or malabsorption. Zinc loss can also occur in cases of trauma, burns, diarrhea, or certain medical conditions. A zinc supplement is given until the patient improves, but Square Zinc may be continued in severe malabsorption, metabolic diseases, or conditions where zinc is lost.
Pharmacology
Square Zinc is an essential trace element involved in several enzyme systems in the body. Zinc is needed for normal growth and overall health. Square Zinc is also important for sexual development, reproduction, vision, smell, taste, insulin storage and release, and immune defenses. Zinc deficiency can lead to weakened immune function, delayed healing, reduced sense of taste and smell, poor night vision, increased risk of miscarriage, hair loss, mental tiredness, skin changes, and poor development of reproductive organs.
Dosage
Child under 10 kg: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) twice a day after meals.
Child between 10-30 kg: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 1-3 times a day after meals.
Adults and children over 30 kg: 20 ml (4 teaspoonfuls) 1-3 times a day after meals.
For best results, Square Zinc is recommended to take the medicine at least 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. If Square Zinc causes stomach upset, Square Zinc can be taken with food.
Interaction
Taking tetracycline and zinc together may reduce the absorption of both. Similarly, taking zinc with quinolone drugs can also decrease the absorption of both. Zinc may also be less absorbed if taken with penicillamine.
Contraindications
Square Zinc is contraindicated for people who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the product.
Side Effects
Zinc may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, heartburn, and gastritis.
Pregnancy & Lactation
The safety of this product during pregnancy has not been fully established. Zinc passes through the placenta and is present in breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings
In cases of acute kidney failure, zinc may build up in the body, requiring dose adjustments.

No overdose effects have been reported.
