Strength: 750mg/5ml
Generic Name: Cefuroxime

Is Antibiotic: Yes
Indications
Staxim IV/IM is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to Staxim IV/IM. This includes conditions like:
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Acute Bacterial Otitis Media caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis (beta-lactamase producing strains), or Streptococcus pyogenes.
Pharmacology
Staxim IV/IM contains Cefuroxime, a second-generation antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from making their cell walls. Staxim IV/IM works against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those that produce beta-lactamase.
Staxim IV/IM also contains Clavulanic acid, which blocks beta-lactamase enzymes. This helps protect Cefuroxime from being broken down, making Staxim IV/IM more effective in treating infections caused by bacteria resistant to some antibiotics.
