Indications

Stelone is used on the skin to treat infections and reduce itching and swelling. Stelone combines an antibiotic and a steroid.

Pharmacology

Stelone contains Triamcinolone, a steroid with anti-inflammatory effects. Nystatin is an antifungal that helps prevent fungi from damaging cells. Neomycin is an antibiotic that treats skin infections caused by bacteria. Gramicidin is another antibiotic that works against bacteria, especially gram-positive ones. Together, these ingredients help treat most skin infections caused by bacteria and fungi.

Dosage & Administration

For adults: Apply to the skin, usually 2 to 3 times a day, or as your doctor directs. Wash your hands before and after applying Stelone. Don’t use in the eyes, inside the mouth, or inside the nose unless your doctor tells you to. Clean and dry the affected area before applying. Avoid tight clothing or bandages over the treated area unless advised by your doctor.

For children under 1 year: Not recommended.

Interaction

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you are using, including over-the-counter or herbal products. Some medicines that may interact with Stelone include other skin products, antibiotics like gentamicin or tobramycin, and corticosteroids taken by mouth.

Contraindications

Stelone should not be used for skin conditions like tuberculosis, herpes, or chickenpox. Stelone is also not recommended for acne, rosacea, or perioral dermatitis. Do not apply Stelone to the ear canal if you have a hole in the eardrum. Stelone should not be used on large areas to avoid systemic absorption or ear damage. Not suitable for children under 1 year.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include skin sensitivity, delayed healing, thinning skin, stretch marks, and changes in appearance. Prolonged use may also affect hormone levels and cause other systemic side effects.

The drug is not classified under a specific pregnancy category. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use.

Precautions & Warnings

Avoid using Stelone for long periods or under occlusive dressings. Avoid contact with eyes. If there is no improvement after 7 days, stop using Stelone as Stelone may be hiding the infection. Use with caution on inflamed or broken skin, such as burns or ulcers. For use on the face or in children under 1 year, limit to 5 days.

Storage Conditions

Store at room temperature (15-30°C) and away from heat. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard expired medication.
