Strength: 100mg

Generic Name: Sitagliptin

Company: Globe Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

MRP:৳ 28.0   (Tablet)

Is Antibiotic: No

Indications

Sucosit is used along with diet and exercise to help improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Sucosit can be taken alone or with other diabetes medications.

Pharmacology

Sucosit is a DPP-4 inhibitor. Sucosit works by slowing down the breakdown of certain hormones called incretins, which help control blood sugar. These hormones boost insulin production and reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver. By increasing the levels of these hormones, Sucosit helps lower blood sugar in a way that depends on the sugar level in the blood.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: The recommended dose is 50 mg twice a day or 100 mg once a day. Sucosit can be taken with or without food.

Interaction

Sucosit does not significantly affect the way other drugs like metformin, glyburide, or simvastatin work. Sucosit slightly increases the level of Digoxin, but no dose adjustment is needed.

Contraindications

Sucosit should not be used by patients who have had a severe allergic reaction to Sucosit, such as anaphylaxis or angioedema.

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, upper respiratory infections, and sore throat. Low blood sugar may occur when used with certain other diabetes medications like sulfonylurea or insulin.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Sucosit is classified as pregnancy category B, meaning animal studies didn’t show risks, but human studies are lacking. Sucosit may pass into breast milk in rats, so caution is advised for breastfeeding women.

Precautions & Warnings

If pancreatitis is suspected, stop using Sucosit and get medical help. Dosage may need adjustment for people with kidney issues. When used with medications that lower blood sugar, dosages of other diabetes medicines may need to be lowered to avoid low blood sugar.

Overdose Effects

In case of overdose, supportive care should be given. Sucosit is mildly dialyzable, meaning Sucosit can be removed from the body by hemodialysis. Overdose effects may include an increase in QTc intervals on the heart monitor, though Sucosit is not considered clinically significant.

Therapeutic Class

Sucosit is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor.

Storage Conditions

Store below 25°C in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date. Only use with a prescription from a registered physician.
