Indications

Sulidac 100 is used to treat symptoms of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, periarticular inflammatory disorders, acute painful shoulder, acute gouty arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, and diabetic retinopathy.

Pharmacology

Sulidac 100 is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps reduce inflammation, pain, and fever. Sulidac 100 works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for making prostaglandins, substances that cause inflammation. After absorption, Sulidac 100 transforms into an active form that inhibits prostaglandin production.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: Take Sulidac 100 twice a day with food. The maximum dose is 400 mg per day. Starting dose for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis is 150 mg. For acute painful shoulder and acute gouty arthritis, the dose is 200 mg twice daily. The dose may be adjusted based on response, or as directed by your doctor.

Interaction

Sulidac 100 is highly bound to proteins in the blood, so monitoring is required if taken with anticoagulants or blood sugar-lowering drugs. Aspirin can reduce the availability of the active metabolite. Using Sulidac 100 with Paracetamol for a long time may increase the risk of kidney problems. Probenecid can increase its concentration in the blood.

Contraindications

Sulidac 100 should not be used by those who are allergic to Sulidac 100 or who have had asthma, hives, or nasal problems triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs. Sulidac 100 is also not suitable for patients with active gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcers, children, or pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Side Effects

The most common side effects are stomach problems like pain, nausea, and constipation. Sulidac 100 can also cause more serious issues like ulcers, bleeding, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and confusion. Other side effects include skin rashes, joint pain, and vision changes. Rare but serious reactions may include liver and kidney damage.

Pregnancy & Lactation

If pregnant, Sulidac 100 should only be used during the first two trimesters if the benefit outweighs the risk. Sulidac 100 is not recommended during the third trimester. Sulidac 100 is not known if Sulidac 100 passes into breast milk, so consult your doctor to decide whether to continue nursing or stop taking Sulidac 100.

Precautions & Warnings

Sulidac 100 should be used with caution in people with kidney problems, bleeding disorders, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, or mental health conditions. People with liver issues may need a lower dose. Anemia can sometimes occur with NSAIDs like this one.

Overdose Effects

Overdose symptoms typically involve stomach, kidney, and nervous system issues. Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting the patient.

Therapeutic Class

Sulidac 100 belongs to the group of drugs used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Storage Conditions

Store Sulidac 100 at temperatures below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep Sulidac 100 out of reach of children.
