Indications
Supergra-50 is used to treat men with erectile dysfunction, which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection for satisfactory sexual performance. For Supergra-50 to work, sexual stimulation is needed. Supergra-50 is also used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Pharmacology
Supergra-50 works by increasing the levels of cGMP in the penis when sexual stimulation occurs. This helps relax the muscles and allows more blood to flow into the penis. Supergra-50 does this by blocking the enzyme PDE5, which normally breaks down cGMP. Supergra-50 has no effect on its own without sexual stimulation. The body processes Supergra-50 mainly in the liver, and Supergra-50 lasts about 4 hours in the system.
Dosage & Administration
Erectile Dysfunction: The usual dose is 50 mg, taken about 1 hour before sexual activity. Supergra-50 can be taken anytime between 4 hours and 30 minutes before sex. The dose can be adjusted between 25 mg and 100 mg depending on effectiveness and tolerance. Supergra-50 can be taken once a day at most.
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: The usual dose is 20 mg, taken three times a day, with or without food.
Interaction
Supergra-50 is mainly processed by certain enzymes in the liver. Drugs that affect these enzymes can change how Supergra-50 works. Some medicines, like ketoconazole and erythromycin, can increase its levels in the body, while others, like rifampin, can decrease its levels. Supergra-50 should not be taken with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, as this can lower blood pressure too much. Taking Supergra-50 with some other medications, like alpha-blockers, may also lower blood pressure and cause dizziness.
Contraindications
Supergra-50 should not be used by anyone allergic to any of its ingredients or by those taking nitrates, as Supergra-50 can dangerously lower blood pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects include face swelling, headache, dizziness, and stomach pain. Supergra-50 can also cause heart problems, vision issues, and prolonged or painful erections. Serious effects like heart attack, stroke, or seizures can occur, though these are rare. Consult a doctor if any of these happen.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Supergra-50 is not intended for use in women and should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Animal studies have not shown harm, but there is no clear evidence in humans.
