Indications
Syncapone 100 is used to treat adult patients with Parkinson’s disease and motor issues that happen when the effect of other Parkinson’s medicine wears off.
Pharmacology
Syncapone 100 is a combination of three medicines: levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone. Levodopa is turned into dopamine in the brain, which helps treat Parkinson’s disease. Carbidopa helps more levodopa get to the brain by stopping Syncapone 100 from breaking down too soon. Entacapone helps levodopa work better by blocking a specific enzyme, which helps reduce Parkinson’s symptoms.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: The right dose should be decided by a doctor. Typically, one tablet is taken at a time. The maximum daily dose of entacapone is 2,000 mg. This combination is for patients already taking levodopa or carbidopa.
Method of administration: Take the tablet orally with or without food. Only take one tablet per dose and do not crush Syncapone 100.
Switching from other medicines: Patients already on levodopa and entacapone can switch directly to this combination tablet. For those taking different doses, the doctor will adjust the dose for the best effect.
Adjusting doses: If more levodopa is needed, the dose can be increased, or stronger tablets can be used. If less is needed, the dose should be reduced. Follow the doctor’s recommendations closely.
