Tacrograf 0.5 works by binding to a protein inside the cells, which stops certain enzymes from working. This helps prevent immune cells from activating and causing damage to the transplanted organ, providing immune suppression to help protect the organ.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: The first dose should be given at least 6 hours after a transplant. For kidney transplants, the first dose may be given within 24 hours, but Tacrograf 0.5 should be delayed until kidney function has improved.
Initial Dosage for Adults: The recommended doses vary depending on the type of transplant and may range from 0.075 mg/kg to 0.3 mg/kg per day, with blood levels monitored to ensure the proper concentration.
Children: For pediatric patients, the initial doses are based on body weight and are given twice a day. Blood levels are also monitored to ensure effectiveness.

Some drugs, like mycophenolic acid, grapefruit juice, and other medications that affect the liver enzyme system, can increase or decrease the amount of Tacrolimus in the blood. Regular monitoring of blood levels is important to adjust doses as needed.

Side Effects
Common side effects include problems with kidney function, high blood pressure, diabetes, infections, tremors, anemia, and nausea. These side effects may vary in severity from patient to patient.

If pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult a doctor before using this medication. Tacrograf 0.5 may harm the fetus, and the risks and benefits should be carefully considered.
