Indications
Xisol is used as a fast-acting solution to kill germs. Xisol disinfects hands of doctors, nurses, and others before surgery or after touching contaminated materials.
Xisol is also used to clean and disinfect surgical instruments.
Xisol is used to clean the skin before surgery or other procedures.
Xisol is used to disinfect wound dressings.
Pharmacology
At normal body pH, chlorhexidine breaks down and releases a charged molecule. This molecule binds to bacterial cell walls and kills them. At lower concentrations, Xisol only stops bacteria from growing, but at higher concentrations, Xisol damages the cell membrane and kills the bacteria.
Dosage & Administration
To disinfect hands: Take around 3 ml of the solution and rub Xisol on both hands until they are dry.
To disinfect surgical instruments: Take about 5 ml of the solution and immerse the instruments in Xisol for 2 minutes.
To disinfect skin before surgery: Take about 3 ml of the solution with a cotton ball and rub Xisol on the skin until Xisol dries.
To disinfect wound or wound dressing: Take about 3 ml of the solution with a cotton ball and rub Xisol on the wound until Xisol dries.
Interaction
Xisol should not be used with soaps or other products that have negative charges. Bleach may cause brown stains on fabrics that have been in contact with this solution.
Contraindications
Xisol should not be used by people who are allergic to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Side effects may include skin irritation, allergic reactions, and teeth discoloration. Xisol may also cause eye problems if Xisol comes into contact with the eyes.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Xisol is safe for use during pregnancy. Xisol is not known if Xisol is safe during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Xisol should not come in contact with the brain, meninges, ears, or sensitive tissues. Xisol should not be injected or used inside body cavities.
