Indications
Xtrafen SR is used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, toothache, trauma, and lower back pain.
Pharmacology
Xtrafen SR is a non-steroidal drug with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. Xtrafen SR works by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which helps produce chemicals called prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation. After oral intake, Xtrafen SR is quickly absorbed and remains unchanged in the body.
Dosage & Administration
Extended Release Tablet: The usual dose for adults is 200 mg once daily or as prescribed by a doctor.
Film-Coated Tablet: The usual dose for adults is 100 mg twice daily.
Interaction
Xtrafen SR does not have major drug interactions, but careful monitoring is needed when used with:
- Lithium and Digoxin: May increase their levels in the blood.
- Diuretics: May reduce their effectiveness.
- Anticoagulants: May increase blood-thinning effects.
- Methotrexate: May raise its blood levels.
Contraindications
