Indications
Xynofen SR is used for treating conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, joint problems, muscle and tendon disorders like sprains, and various types of pain such as dental pain, headaches, and menstrual pain.
Pharmacology
Xynofen SR is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. Xynofen SR works by blocking certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which cause inflammation and pain. Additionally, Xynofen SR stabilizes cell membranes and can reduce certain types of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation.
Xynofen SR is quickly absorbed into the body and mostly binds to plasma proteins. Xynofen SR is processed in the liver and mostly removed through the urine. When injected, Xynofen SR reaches its highest concentration in about 30-45 minutes.
Dosage & Administration
For inflammation: The starting dose is 150 to 300 mg per day, split into three doses. Once a stable dose is found (usually between 100 to 200 mg), Xynofen SR may be taken twice daily or once a day. The maximum dose is 300 mg per day.
For pain and menstrual cramps: The usual dose is 25 to 50 mg every 6 to 8 hours, with a maximum dose of 300 mg per day.
Interaction
Xynofen SR should not be used with other NSAIDs or high doses of aspirin, as this can cause stomach issues. Be cautious when using with anticoagulants (like warfarin), lithium, or methotrexate, as they may interact and cause side effects. Other drugs, like certain diuretics and blood pressure medications, can also interact with Xynofen SR.
Contraindications
Xynofen SR should not be used by individuals who are allergic to Xynofen SR or similar drugs (such as aspirin or other NSAIDs). Xynofen SR is also contraindicated for people with severe heart, liver, or kidney problems, active stomach ulcers, or history of stomach bleeding caused by NSAIDs.
