Indications
Z-Lidocaine Plus is used for local anesthesia during dental procedures, including nerve block or injection techniques, following standard methods described in medical textbooks.
Pharmacology
Lidocaine works by stabilizing nerve membranes, blocking the flow of ions needed to send nerve signals, which helps numb the area. Epinephrine works by stimulating certain receptors in the body, helping the lidocaine stay in the area longer by reducing blood flow.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: The maximum dose for healthy adults is 500 mg, or 7 mg/kg (3.2 mg/lb) of body weight.
Pediatric: The dose for children should be based on their age, weight, and overall health. For children under 10 years old, the dose can be calculated using standard formulas, like Clark’s rule. For example, a 5-year-old child weighing 50 lbs should not receive more than 75-100 mg of lidocaine, with the dose not exceeding 7 mg/kg (3.2 mg/lb) of body weight.
Interaction
Z-Lidocaine Plus is not known to have significant interactions with other drugs.
Contraindications
Z-Lidocaine Plus is contraindicated in patients who have an allergy to local anesthetics of the amide type or any of the components in the formulation.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Z-Lidocaine Plus is in Pregnancy Category B. Studies in rats have shown no harm to the fetus, even at doses much higher than those used in humans. However, there are no sufficient studies in pregnant women, so Z-Lidocaine Plus should be used with caution, especially during the first trimester when the baby’s organs are forming.
Nursing Mothers: Z-Lidocaine Plus is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. As many drugs do, caution should be used when administering Z-Lidocaine Plus to breastfeeding mothers.
