Indications
Zeefol M is used to treat and prevent deficiencies of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc.
Pharmacology
Zeefol M is a combination of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc. The Iron is in the form of Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex, which is a stable form of Iron that helps the body absorb Zeefol M better. Folic Acid helps the fetus develop properly, and Zinc keeps enzymes working and helps the body use proteins.
Dosage & Administration
Adult & Elderly: One tablet daily. In severe cases, two tablets per day may be needed, or as directed by the doctor.
Pediatric patients: Safety in children has not been established.
Interaction
Since the Iron in this preparation is bound in a complex form, Zeefol M is less likely to interact with food components like phytates, oxalates, and tannins, or with medicines like tetracyclines and antacids.
Contraindications
Zeefol M is not recommended for people who are allergic to any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Zeefol M is generally well tolerated. However, some side effects of Iron supplements, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea, may occur but are rare.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Zeefol M is advised to avoid using any drug during the first trimester of pregnancy unless there is clear evidence of Iron deficiency. Zeefol M is safe to use during pregnancy after the first trimester if needed.
Precautions & Warnings
As with other Iron supplements, dark stool coloration may occur, which is harmless and does not affect health.
Overdose Effects
No cases of Iron overdose or toxicity have been reported.
