Indications
Zeroflux is used for gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gas linked to reflux. Zeroflux also helps with heartburn during pregnancy and other stomach discomfort caused by acid reflux.
Pharmacology
Zeroflux contains two antacids (Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate) and an alginate (Sodium Alginate). Zeroflux works in two ways: neutralizing excess stomach acid for quick relief and forming a protective barrier over stomach contents to prevent acid reflux. The barrier helps keep stomach acid from reaching the esophagus, reducing irritation. In severe cases, the barrier itself may be refluxed instead of stomach contents, providing additional relief. Zeroflux also helps trap bile and digestive enzymes to further protect the esophagus.
Dosage & Administration
For Oral Suspension:
Adults & Children (12+ years): 10-20 mL after meals and before bed, up to 4 times daily.
Children (6-12 years): 5-10 mL after meals and before bed, up to 4 times daily.
Children under 6 years: Not recommended.
For Chewable Tablets:
Adults & Children (12+ years): 2-4 tablets after meals and before bed, up to 4 times daily.
Children under 12 years: Only with medical advice.
Hepatic Impairment: No dose adjustment needed.
Renal Impairment: Use caution if on a strict low-sodium diet.
Interaction
Zeroflux can affect the absorption of some medicines. A 2-hour gap should be maintained when taking medications like Tetracyclines, Digoxin, Fluoroquinolones, Iron supplements, Ketoconazole, Thyroid medicines, Penicillamine, Beta-blockers, Glucocorticoids, and Biphosphonates.
Contraindications
Zeroflux should not be used by people allergic to its ingredients.
Side Effects
Some people may experience constipation, gas, stomach cramps, or belching. If any of these become severe, a doctor should be consulted. Taking too much may cause bloating or discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Studies show Zeroflux is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when needed. There are no known harmful effects on fertility.
Precautions & Warnings
Each 20 mL contains a significant amount of sodium and calcium, which should be considered in patients with heart or kidney conditions. Not recommended for children under 12 without medical advice. Contains aspartame, so Zeroflux should not be taken by those with phenylketonuria. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, medical advice should be sought. Zeroflux may mask serious conditions and should be used with caution in those with kidney disease or low phosphate levels.
Overdose Effects
Overdosing may cause bloating and discomfort. Treatment is based on symptoms.
