Indications
Zerotens is used to treat emotional issues like stress and anxiety, problems in social situations, agitation, insomnia, and anxious or agitated feelings linked to depression. Zerotens also helps with heart and lung issues like chest pain, rapid heartbeat, and shortness of breath. Zerotens can be used for stomach problems like irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, pain, and diarrhea. Zerotens is also used for issues with urination, like frequent urination or painful periods. Zerotens can treat psychosomatic problems like headaches, asthma, and stomach ulcers. Zerotens is also helpful for emotional reactions to chronic illnesses.
Pharmacology
Zerotens is a strong medication for the mind. In low doses, Zerotens helps reduce stress and anxiety. In higher doses, Zerotens can relax the muscles and help with sleep. Zerotens works by affecting a part of the brain called the GABA-A receptor, helping to calm the brain’s activity. Zerotens does not affect other brain chemicals.
Dosage & Administration
Standard dosage: The usual dose for outpatient care is 1.5-3 mg, taken up to three times a day. The dose may start low and gradually increase to find the right amount.
For severe cases (especially in a hospital): 6-12 mg, 2 or 3 times a day. Treatment usually lasts no more than 8-12 weeks. If needed, treatment can go longer, but the patient’s condition should be checked regularly by a specialist.
Elderly or weak patients: Older patients or those with liver problems need a lower dose.
Children: Bromazepam is typically not used in children, but if needed, the dose should be adjusted based on the child’s weight (about 0.1-0.3 mg per kg of body weight).
Interaction
If Zerotens is taken with other medications that affect the brain, like antidepressants, sedatives, or narcotics, Zerotens can increase its calming effects. Taking Zerotens with cimetidine can make Zerotens stay in the body longer. Alcohol should be avoided because Zerotens can make the calming effect stronger.
Contraindications
Zerotens is not recommended for people who are allergic to bromazepam, have serious breathing or liver problems, or suffer from sleep apnea.
Side Effects
Common side effects include tiredness, drowsiness, weak muscles, and confusion. These effects are usually seen at the start of treatment and may go away over time. Memory problems may happen when using this medication at regular doses.
Pregnancy & Lactation
The safety of using bromazepam during pregnancy has not been proven. Since Zerotens can pass into breast milk, Zerotens should be avoided while breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Using bromazepam for a long time can lead to physical or mental dependence. This risk is higher for people who have a history of alcohol use. If treatment is stopped suddenly, withdrawal symptoms like headaches, muscle pain, anxiety, and confusion may occur. Zerotens is recommended to slowly decrease the dose instead. Bromazepam is not meant for treating sleep problems caused by mental illnesses. Caution should be used when driving or operating machinery.
