Zinacef
Form: Injection
Strength: 750mg/5ml
Generic Name: Cefuroxime
Company: GlaxoSmithKline
MRP:৳ 0.0 (Injection)
Is Antibiotic: Yes
Indications
Zinacef is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to Zinacef. This includes conditions like:
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Acute Bacterial Otitis Media caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis (beta-lactamase producing strains), or Streptococcus pyogenes.
Pharmacology
Zinacef contains Cefuroxime, a second-generation antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from making their cell walls. Zinacef works against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those that produce beta-lactamase.
Zinacef also contains Clavulanic acid, which blocks beta-lactamase enzymes. This helps protect Cefuroxime from being broken down, making Zinacef more effective in treating infections caused by bacteria resistant to some antibiotics.
