Indications
Zirgan 0.15% is used for treating acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic ulcers), an eye infection caused by the herpes virus.
Pharmacology
Zirgan 0.15% contains Ganciclovir, a substance that helps stop the herpes virus from making more of itself. Once Zirgan 0.15% enters the eye, Zirgan 0.15% is changed into a form that blocks the virus from making its DNA. Zirgan 0.15% works by stopping the virus’s DNA polymerase (the tool the virus uses to copy itself) and by stopping the virus from building its DNA chain, so the virus cannot grow or spread.
Dosage & Administration
Adult & Elderly: Put 1 drop in the affected eye 5 times a day (every 3 hours while awake) until the corneal ulcer heals. After healing, use 1 drop 3 times a day for the next 7 days.

Contraindications
Zirgan 0.15% is not suitable for patients who are allergic to Ganciclovir.
Side Effects
The most common side effects include blurred vision (60%), eye irritation (20%), small eye ulcers (5%), and redness of the eye (5%).
Pregnancy & Lactation
If pregnant, contact your doctor before using this medication. Animal studies show Zirgan 0.15% can harm the baby, but Zirgan 0.15% is not clear if Zirgan 0.15% will affect human pregnancy in the same way. Zirgan 0.15% should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary.
If breastfeeding, Zirgan 0.15% is not known if this medicine passes into breast milk. Use with caution when breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Zirgan 0.15% should only be used on the eyes. Do not wear contact lenses if you have eye symptoms of herpetic keratitis or while using this medicine.
Overdose Effects
Zirgan 0.15% is unlikely that an overdose will happen if applied correctly. If Zirgan 0.15% happens, Zirgan 0.15% is not expected to cause major issues.

Storage Conditions
Store between 15°C and 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Do not use the tube more than a month after Zirgan 0.15% has been opened.
